Being
away from it all a car is really essential. We have no near neighbours,
just quiet leafy lanes and undulating farmland so you are sure to relax
and feel close to nature. The surroundings can truly be described as un-commercialised
and provide many opportunities to see rare birds and wild life, as well
as seeing all the farm animals in their natural environment. Don't forget
to bring your camera and binoculars!
We
are only 10 minutes drive from Wiveliscombe (6mls). Local shopping facilities
include - a small supermarket (open late, most days), Post Office, butchers,
chemist, newsagents, Bank and several Inns, etc.
A
popular facility at Oxenleaze is our heated swimming pool, which is available
throughout the season at no extra charge.
Children
and non-swimmers must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times,
so if Dad's gone fishing for a while, what better way for the rest of
the family to enjoy themselves?
Our
Laundry Room is equipped with all the essentials whilst on holiday and
will make the "chores" seem not so bad after all.
A
former stone barn has now been converted into a spacious Games Room where
pool and table tennis can be played by the more energetic! A pay-phone
is provided and there is plenty of local information and maps on display.
We
are open from Easter to January and sincerely look forward to welcoming
you to Oxenleaze.

There
are a great variety of things to do locally - walking, riding, sailing,
sightseeing, windsurfing, touring or trout fishing (we are close to Wimbleball
Lake and Clatworthy Reservoir), but Oxenleaze is renowned for its excellent
coarse fishing, and many venture no further than our lakes. Truly a "fisherman's
paradise", the 3 lakes occupy 2 acres in a beautiful valley setting, only
a short walk (500m) from your doorstep and you can drive to within 50m.
It
is extremely well stocked with carp, tench, roach, rudd and bream and
there is no closed season. All fish, which must be returned to the water
after fishing, can be caught on maggot casters, live maggots, bread, sweetcorn
and luncheon meat. Fishing is free to residents.
